In 2002, Basu has acted the movie Raaz there by entering in to Tollywood (Telugu film land).
In 2003, she acted with John Abraham in hit movie Jism. The movie earned her a Film fare Best Villain Award nomination.

She completed 12th standard at Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir and commerce at The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society College. At the same time she entered modeling as well as film industry.
