Kajol Mukherjee well known as Kajol, is one of the leading actress in Bollywood. She also well known model. She appeared in numerous T V commercials.

*In the year of  2011, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian Cinema.

Early Family Life.

Kajol was born on 5 August, 1975 in Mumbai to a Hindu  Bengali-Marathi family. Her father Shomu Mukherjee was a famous film producer and director. Her mother Tanuja is an actress in Bollywood. and her maternal grandmother Shobhna Samarth and great grandmother Rattan Bai had both been involved in Hindi film industry.

Her paternal grandfather, Sasadhar Mukherjee was a famous filmmaker and the legacy was carried forward by his sons, Kajol's father and uncles, Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. Her paternal grandmother, Satirani Devi, was the sister of the three Ganguly brothers, Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar.

·       Kajol's younger sister  Tanisha Mukherjee is also one of the famous actress in Bollywood.

Kajol completed her high school in  St. Josephs Convent at Panchgani.while studding she was very much interested in drama and cinema.

Career

Kajol started her career in early age when she was teen. She debut, in Bekhudi in the year of  1992. The movie was flap. But her performance noticed and she went on to work with big production houses in India.

She appeared in  Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar in the year of 1993, alongside Shahrukh Khan. It was a great success in box office. This movie gave fame to her.

In 1994 she appeared in Udhaar Ki Zindagi, it was a failure at box office although her performance received well critics as well as BFJA Best Actress Award. Later that year she performed in Yash Raj Films Yeh Dillagi. This movie got highest grosser of the year. She also won the nomination for Best Actress in Filmfare Awards.

During 1995-99 Kajol appeared several films which was highly success and moderate success, including Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Bambai Ka Babu, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Hameshaa, comedy Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Dushman, romance Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Kya Kare and Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain.

She had a failure in 2000, as her only release that year, Raju Chacha went unnoticed.

In the year of 2001 she appeared in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which was a highest grosser of the year in Indian film industry as well as major success in overseas market. For her performance in this movie she won several awards, including her third Filmfare Best Actress Award and her second Star Screen Award for Best Actress.

She appeared in Kunal Kohli's drama Fanaa(2006), one of the highest grossing films of the year. Her performance in this film won her fourth Filmfare Best Actress Award.
